Sputnik Spartan II Development Board
NOTE :: As of September 2009 this product is obsolete. This page remains to provide information for current customers.
The Sputnik FPGA Development Board is a low-cost flexible environment for both learning the basics of FPGA design and for developing complex system solutions. System I/O can be simulated with on-board switches, buttons, and LED's. Custom circuitry can also be connected via the two expansion headers.
The heart of the board is a 300K SpartanIIe FPGA. An onboard reconfigurable PROM is automatically loaded into the FPGA SRAM cells on power-up. To provide additional memory resources a 32Kx8 asynchronous SRAM is connected to the FPGA.
Both the PROM and FPGA are supported by the free Xilinx ISE WebPack for cost-effective prototyping. Additionally, the JTAG circuitry is populated on the board allowing the JTAG chain to be accessed from the ISE WebPack using a standard DB25 cable. This avoids the high cost of specialised download cables.
Board I/O consists of:
- 4 tactile switches
- 8 DIP switches
- 4 7-segment displays (with left decimal point)
- Bank of 10 LED's
- 2 expansion headers with 12 I/O signals each
- one serial port with baud rate of 115200 (or higher)
